Houston DWI Breath Tests
Breathalyzer Testing
A breathalyzer test (Intoxilyzer) is a method of estimating a person's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) by measuring the amount of alcohol on their breath. You can be arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) if your BAC is 0.08% or higher, and in some cases even if you are under .08. A commercial driver will face DWI charges with a BAC of 0.04% or greater. If you are under the age of 21, any alcohol on your breath can result in charges of driving under the influence (DUI).
If you have been charged with drunk driving, a Houston DWI lawyer should be contacted at once to investigate every aspect of your arrest and review your test results. The lawyer will carefully evaluate the breath testing equipment and procedures used by law enforcement. In many cases, serious errors have taken place that can be used in the defense against charges. The types of errors that can occur in breath testing include temperature issues during the testing, improperly maintained or calibrated equipment, and in incorrect administration of the tests.
